Who is Eligible to be a Resident at the St. Nicholas Group Home?
There are two primary eligibility requirements for placement in a community-based ICF/MR:
1. Must be Medicaid eligible
2. Must be diagnosed with Mental Retardation OR be diagnosed with a Related Condition (PDD, Traumatic Brain Injury, Cerebral Palsy, etc.) with moderate to severe deficits in adaptive behavior. Each resident must benefit from active treatment.
For the health and safety of the St. Nicholas’ residents, it is important for the administration to ensure the compatibility of the residents. As such, once a DMR is received, the St. Nicholas’ administration will review and suggest a face-to-face meeting with the possible resident and their guardian. In addition, the administration may require a “trial visit” before admission into the program to ensure appropriateness of placement.
